Toba Fire Festival: A Unique Festival of the World「Reservations Now Being Accepted」

The Toba Fire Festival, which began approximately 1,200 years ago, is held on January 7th of the lunar calendar, now the second Sunday of February, at Toba Shinmeisha Shrine in Toba Town, Nishio City, Aichi Prefecture.
A large, 7-meter-tall torch made of bamboo and thatch called "suzumi" is lit. The Miyanishi River divides the area into two regions, "Kanji" and "Fukuji," and the leading "kamiotoko" (divine men) from each region purify themselves in the cold sea with their attendants. Then, donning costumes made from old flags called "neko," they bravely jump into the blazing flames, retrieve the sacred tree and twelve ropes from within the suzumi, which they then offer to the altar.
This ritual of retrieving the sacred tree and twelve ropes from the burning suzumi is rare, making this a festival rich in regional distinctiveness.
This is a three-day optional tour during your stay in Nagoya.
On the first day, you'll be picked up from your hotel at 5:30 AM. Accompanied by a photographer and guide, you'll learn about the region's history and key photography tips, while also witnessing unique moments.
